What free actually means here, and what it does not
Most exam-prep products are free until the part you need. The questions are free and the explanations are not. The practice is free and the mock exam is not. The first track is free and the one you are studying is not. Given how common that is, a product that says everything is free is reasonably met with a search for the catch.
The plain version
- Every practice question, with its explanation.
- Every flashcard and study note.
- Full-length timed mock exams, three per track in a thirty day window.
- Performance-based questions, the drag, order and categorise kind.
- All of the study games, and the readiness score and study plan.
- The job-ready courses, their projects and their completion certificates.
- The Android app, with the same account and the same progress.
There is no payment integration in the product at all. Not a disabled upgrade button, not a plan page waiting to be switched on: no card is collected anywhere, because there is nothing to collect one for.
No ads either
The other way free products pay for themselves is advertising, and the price of that is attention and data. There are no ad networks in the product and no third-party advertising SDKs in the mobile app. What is there is a crash reporter and, on the website, product analytics that tell us which features are used. Both are named in the privacy policy.
What free does not buy you
It does not buy the exam. Certification vendors charge for the test itself, often several hundred dollars, and no practice platform changes that. Budget for the real exam fee separately, and treat practice as the thing that stops you paying it twice.
It does not buy a guarantee. Nobody can promise a pass, and a practice score is an estimate from your own answers rather than a prediction about a paper nobody has seen. It also does not buy a shortcut: the material still takes the hours it takes.
And it does not buy an industry credential. A course completion certificate from us says you did the work here. The certification comes from CompTIA, ISC2, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, PMI and the rest, and we are not affiliated with any of them.
Why it is built this way
Because the paywall in exam prep almost always lands on the part that does the work. Explanations are what turn a wrong answer into learning, and mock exams are what tell you whether to book the test. Charging for those means the people who most need them, the ones changing career on a tight budget, get the version that does not help.
If that changes, it will be said plainly and in advance rather than discovered at a paywall. In the meantime the whole catalogue is open: certification tracks, job-ready courses, the Experience Lab, study groups and the phone app, without a card.
