Microsoft Cloud and AI Security Engineer questions people ask
Up to 50 questions in 120 minutes. The exact number varies between test forms, which is why the objectives say "up to" rather than giving a fixed count.
Yes. Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate and its AZ-500 exam retire on 31 August 2026, and Cloud and AI Security Engineer Associate replaces it. There is no transition path or upgrade assessment: if you want the new certification you sit SC-500. An AZ-500 you already hold stays valid until it expires, but you cannot earn or renew it after that date.
The four domain headings are the same, so most of the Entra ID, Key Vault, storage, networking, compute and Defender for Cloud content carries straight over. What is new sits inside Secure compute and Manage and monitor security posture: securing AI workloads with Defender for AI Services, Foundry guardrails, AI Gateway in API Management, Entra Agent ID, Copilot Studio agent protection, Purview DSPM for AI, and Security Copilot itself.
700 on Microsoft's 1 to 1000 scale. That is a scaled score rather than a percentage, and Microsoft does not publish how raw answers convert to it, so anyone telling you it equals a fixed number of correct answers is guessing.
No, there is no formal prerequisite. Microsoft's audience profile assumes practical experience administering Azure and hybrid environments across compute, network and storage, strong familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, and some Microsoft 365 administration. People coming from AZ-104 or a working Azure administration role tend to find the ground familiar; the AI security material is new to almost everyone.
No, and be wary of any site that claims otherwise. Every question here is written from scratch against the published exam objectives. Sitting an exam having memorised leaked live questions breaks the non-disclosure agreement you accept at the test centre and can get your certification revoked.
